Each month, in addition to offering amazing new and used books in English for all ages, we host events. We love to connect people through their love of books!
October is typically rainy and dreary, so we planned many great events to make it less so!
Last week, the uber talented Diana Garcia, author of Paradise Loss, led a group of writer/artists through a workshop on how to start/finish/publish a book! It was such a great event that she is going to host an ongoing workshop! Stay tuned for the details!
Tonight Carla Heilbron and Natalia Graviria from Salud Hormonal 40 will lead us through Lisa Masconi's book Menopause Brian. Every woman will go through menopause, so it is important to know what to expect and to have a community to talk about it!
Next week we begin our monthly book club meetings to discuss a horror book- Stephen Graham Jones' The Only Good Indians. It is a haunting tale of past deeds catching up with you...but with the added intensity of Native American history and folklore.
This month we will also have a coffee talk with Buena Vida Coffee Company! We have many books about being good stewards of our Earth's resources and Buena Vida is a living embodiment of those practices. We will taste their amazing coffee as we learn about their ethical and sustainable coffee farming practices that are good to the environment and the farmers. BYOM- bring your own mug!
And of course no October in our store would be complete without some Halloween celebration! Our home, the Santa Ana Town Center, is hosting a haunted house and we have tickets available! Simply bring in a used book in English and we will give you your regular store credit AND a ticket to the event! We also have some spoooooky visitors in the store, including a very special Bruja, and lots of great books that will get you in the mood for tricks and treats!
You can find information about these events through our website, by emailing us, or by following us on Facebook and Instagram!
